Continuing Education Grants

The Heritage League of Greater Kansas City is pleased to announce grant funding in support of nonprofit management continuing education for our organizational and individual members. We asked about member needs in conjunction with recent strategic planning, and we heard your request for basic management training opportunities.

With funding from the Taylor S. and Patti H. Abernathy Charitable Trust, Bank of America, Trustee, The Heritage League will begin a three-year continuing education initiative aimed at providing the basic nonprofit management knowledge all successful nonprofit board members, directors, and program managers rely upon in order to meet organizational expectations.

In 2011, we will fund up to four $500 member organization Training Grants, allowing one or more Heritage League member organization representatives to attend pre-approved nonprofit management courses, workshops, and seminars. In response to League member feedback, the basics we will pre-approve include:

  • Finance & Fundraising
  • Marketing & Communications
  • Board Development
  • Staff & Volunteer Management

We will also cover the cost of 12 individual Nonprofit Connect memberships at the stated value of $125 per annual membership. Nonprofit Connect membership brings with it access to members-only seminar rates, networking opportunities via their online job resource and the annual Philanthropy Conference, and resources including the free online foundation directory and membership directory, seminar materials, metro area nonprofit news and best practices, and organization marketing opportunities.
